Makenzi Patterson is an accomplished individual with a diverse background in health services, advocacy, and research. Currently serving as the 2022 Global Health Fellow and President of the POMS, Region VII MAPS Chapter at the Student National Medical Association, Makenzi has also held the position of Vice President at the Region VIII MAPS Chapter. Previous experience includes participation as a mentee in the Clinical Shadowing and Mentorship Program at Kaiser Permanente and working as an Advocacy Fellow with the Global Healthy Living Foundation. Educational background includes a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in Health Services and Natural Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh, complemented by roles as a tutor/mentor and undergraduate research assistant. Makenzi's early experience includes a research internship in the Political Science Department at the University of Pittsburgh and involvement in the Emerging Leaders Internship program, aimed at fostering leadership skills.
