Simon Foster is an experienced laboratory manager and project scientist at The Sainsbury Laboratory since 2005, focusing on the identification, cloning, and characterization of resistance genes against Phytophthora infestans from wild Solanum species. Prior experience includes serving as a research fellow at Massey University, where Simon Foster researched the molecular biology of the grass endophyte fungus Epichloe festucae, and working as a post-doctoral scientist at Rothamsted Research, developing molecular diagnostic techniques for fungal pathogens of oilseed rape. Simon Foster holds a PhD in Molecular Plant Pathology from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Biology from the University of Nottingham.
