Tom Baker

Executive Director Of Education at The Royal College of Physicians

Tom Baker has had a diverse work experience, starting in 2004 as a Student Associate at Tata Steel. Tom then worked as a Medical Clerk at Cambridge Avenue Medical Centre in 2009. From 2009 to 2011, they were a Teacher of Science at The Milton Keynes Academy before becoming the Teaching and Learning Coordinator at the same school from 2011 to 2014. In 2012, Tom worked as an Expert Assessment Associate at Pearson. Tom also served as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University from 2015 to 2020. Since 2014, they have been with the Royal College of Physicians, initially as an Educationalist and later moving up to Senior Educationalist, Head of Education Programmes, Deputy Director of Education, Chief of Staff, and currently as the Executive Director of Education. Additionally, they became an Honorary Lecturer at UCL Faculty of Medical Sciences in 2017.

Tom Baker graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree in Biological Sciences. Following their undergraduate studies, they attended Edge Hill University from 2008 to 2009, where they obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education in Secondary Science. In 2010, Tom pursued further education at the University of Bedfordshire, where they completed a Master's degree in Teaching and Learning, graduating in 2013. Tom then attended the National College for Teaching and Leadership from 2013 to 2014, where they obtained the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership, specializing in Leadership and Management. To enhance their skills in Human Resources, Tom is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Certificate in Human Resources through CIPD Qualifications. In addition to their formal education, they obtained certification as an MBTI Practitioner in September 2015 from OPP.
