John L. Clark is an accomplished research botanist with extensive experience in various prestigious botanical institutions. Currently, John serves as a Research Botanist and Research Associate at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens, with additional roles at Missouri Botanical Garden and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. John has been affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution in a research capacity since 2006. As an educator, John held the Aldo Leopold Distinguished Teaching Chair at The Lawrenceville School and worked as an Associate Professor at The University of Alabama, where course development focused on evolutionary biology and plant systematics. John completed a Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology at The George Washington University and has contributed to significant research projects, including a Fulbright Fellowship for studies in Ecuador. John’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Forest Biology from the University of Vermont.
