John O'Hara has a long and varied work experience. From 1994 to 1998, they served in the US Marine Corps as the 8th Comm BN 2D SRIG. Following this, they worked at the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development as a Veterans Service Career Counselor (DVOP) from 1998 to 2011. John then moved on to become a Partner and EVP at The O'Hara Project from 2011 to 2017. Since 2017, they have been a Partner and President at TOP/SF, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing marketing and workforce solutions.

John O'Hara obtained their Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Kean University. John then went on to earn their Master's Degree in Education from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Most recently, they obtained their CBI Certification from Rutgers University in 2020, with a focus on Community Based Instruction and Transition Coordinator.
