Elena Munoz-Rodriguez serves as the Assistant Curator for Latinx & Latin American Art at The Newark Museum of Art since November 2019, previously holding the position of Curatorial Assistant. Elena's experience includes roles such as Tutor & Coordinator at MEK Review and Research Assistant at the Smithsonian Institution, where exhibition space research and proposal support were key responsibilities. A fellowship at the Smithsonian American Art Museum involved significant research on Puerto Rican Spanish Colonial Era works, while earlier positions included Visitors Service Assistant at The Morgan Library & Museum, Swimming Instructor at P.S. 11 Programs, and Curatorial Intern at El Museo del Barrio. With a Master of Arts in Art History from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, Spanish, and Peace & Justice Studies from Fordham University, Elena combines extensive academic and practical knowledge in art and cultural studies.
