Ian Johnson is a distinguished journalist and academic specializing in China, currently serving as a Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations since July 2021. As the founder of China Unofficial Archives, Ian also contributes regularly to The New York Review of Books. With prior experience as a Foreign Correspondent for The New York Times in Beijing, Ian has extensive reporting background, including a senior correspondent role at The Wall Street Journal and previous positions at The Baltimore Sun. Ian's editorial expertise was evident in the role of advising editor for the Journal of Asian Studies.
