Kate Wagner is an accomplished architecture critic and writer, currently serving as the Architecture Critic for The New Republic since May 2019, where the bi-monthly column "America by Design" explores the political implications of American architecture. Additionally, Wagner has been contributing to the viral blog McMansion Hell since July 2016, which critiques suburban architecture while engaging with cultural commentary. Wagner's academic experience includes a position as an Adjunct Lecturer at Morgan State University, teaching a graduate seminar on sound and the built environment. Earlier professional roles include engineering intern at Polk Audio and various positions at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, including composer and student audio technician, along with radio hosting experience at WUAG 103.1FM. Educational qualifications include a Master of Arts in Audio Science from The Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
