Idrees Ahmad is a distinguished academic and journalist with extensive experience in higher education and media. Currently serving as a Senior Lecturer and Director of Journalism at the University of Essex since September 2022, Idrees also holds multiple editorial roles, including Columnist for The New Arab, Contributing Editor for the Los Angeles Review of Books, and Associate Editor for Newlines Magazine. Previously, Idrees was a Lecturer in Digital Journalism at the University of Stirling and held positions at the University for the Creative Arts and the University of Glasgow. Idrees Ahmad earned a PhD in Sociology from the University of Strathclyde.
