Nick Olson has a diverse work experience in various roles related to forestry and environmental studies. Nick currently works as a Southwest Colorado Project Coordinator at the National Forest Foundation, where they coordinate the San Juan Wood for Life program. Prior to this, Nick was a Forest Health Program Manager at the Southwest Conservation Corps from 2021 to 2022.
Before joining the Southwest Conservation Corps, they were the Ranch Manager at Catspaw Ranch from 2019 to 2021. From 2017 to 2019, Nick worked as the School Forests Manager at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. Before that, they served as the Assistant Director at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies/ Ucross High Plains Stewardship Initiative, where they built partnerships with conservation groups, private ranches, and academics.
Additionally, Nick has worked as a Community Forestry Intern at the Forest Stewards Guild and as a Forest Technician at Back Forty Forestry. Nick also had roles at the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies as a School Forest Assistant Manager and School Forest Apprentice.
Earlier in their career, Nick worked at Runa, a hybrid for-profit/non-profit organization, where they held various positions including Ecuadorian Regional Director and Rocky Mountain Regional Sales Manager. Nick was responsible for increasing production, managing teams, and working directly with indigenous communities and smallholder producers.
Lastly, Nick worked at Colorado Mountain Expeditions from 2008 to 2010.
Nick Olson completed their undergraduate education at Birmingham-Southern College from 2005 to 2009, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics. Nick then pursued a Master's Degree in Forestry at Yale University, which they completed from 2014 to 2016.
