Yumiko Imai is currently a Meiklejohn Peer Advisor at Brown University, providing academic support to first-year students while also serving as an undergraduate teaching assistant for courses in cancer biology and cell and molecular biology. As part of the Karen T. Romer Undergraduate Teaching and Research Award, Yumiko is preparing to assist in a course on modeling human disease using stem cells. Additionally, Yumiko is an undergraduate research trainee in the Mani lab, focusing on cancer stem cell visualization and chemotherapy resistance. Volunteer experience includes roles at Miriam Hospital and Middlesex Health, supporting patients in emergency departments, as well as advocating for low-income families at Lifespan. A former student representative for community services and education boards, Yumiko completed a high school diploma at Haddam-Killingworth High School and is pursuing a Sc.B. in Cell and Molecular Biology at Brown University.
