Husna leads on JRF’s public engagement and advocacy strand, including ensuring people with lived experience of poverty are an integral part of our work.
Husna's passion has always been to shape policy and practice in the interests of people experiencing poverty and social exclusion. She began her career in a local education authority, reviewing pupil and school performance. She has since held senior policy positions in organisations such as the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Care Quality Commission and at Leonard Cheshire, where as the Head of Policy and Campaigns she led the strategic direction of the organisation’s influencing strategy and spearheaded campaigns.
Husna holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and has undertaken leadership training at Ashbridge Business School. Her volunteering roles have included co-founding the Graduates Forum, chairing the Tower Hamlets Summer University, and serving on the Board of Precious Online. Currently, Husna is a Trustee of Toynbee Hall, whose pioneering activity in East London focuses on breaking down the barriers that keep people in poverty.
