Michael Hannan

Michael Hannan has extensive work experience in the field of robotics and unmanned systems. Michael started their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Field Robotics at the University of Florida in 2002. Michael then moved on to Applied Research Associates in 2005, where they served as a Senior Engineer and Supervisor of the Robotics and Intelligent System Group. In this role, they focused on unmanned ground systems for humanitarian demining and developed novel robotic and automated systems. In 2012, they joined Lockheed Martin Advanced Technology Laboratories as a Research Manager for the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory, leading projects on biomorphic and human-robot collaboration. Since 2015, they have been working at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory as a Principal Autonomy Engineer, where they are responsible for several unmanned systems projects in the maritime domain. Michael'scurrent projects include advanced maritime perception and collaborative autonomy.

Michael Hannan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Susquehanna University in 1996. Michael then pursued a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Robotics and Control Systems, from Clemson University, which they completed in 1998. Michael continued their studies at Clemson University and obtained a PhD in Electrical Engineering, specializing in Robotics, in 2002.
