Chao (Charles) Wang is an experienced algorithm and software engineer specializing in machine learning, currently serving as a Team Lead at The Home Depot since March 2015. In this role, Chao has developed machine learning algorithms for projects including image captioning, spell checking, and autocomplete systems. Prior experience includes work as a Research Engineer and Development Manager at Sears Holdings Corporation, where Chao led a research team on visual search related to e-commerce, and as a Senior Research Associate and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology, focusing on computer vision, machine learning, image processing, and pattern recognition. Chao holds a Ph.D. in Computer Vision and Machine Learning from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a Master's degree in Pattern Recognition and Digital Image Processing from Shandong University.
