Darren Wright

Head Of Strategy And Business Development - Q at The Health Foundation

Darren Wright has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations and roles.

Darren currently works at The Health Foundation as the Q Strategy and Development Lead, a position they started in September 2021.

In 2022, Darren joined Citizens Advice Sandwell & Walsall as a Member of the Board of Trustees.

From 2019 to 2021, they worked at Helpforce as the Head of Programme Design. During their tenure, they collaborated with Integrated Care Systems to design volunteering programs aligned with local health priorities and aimed at reducing health inequalities. Additionally, they implemented agile project management and internal program design at the organization.

Prior to that, Darren served as the Director of Inside Outcomes CIC from 2015 to 2019 and as the Executive Director of FreeBMD from 2013 to 2015.

From 2011 to 2013, they worked at Birmingham and Solihull PCT Cluster as a Senior Programme Manager in Health & Wellbeing Board and Community Engagement.

From 2009 to 2012, Darren held two roles at Birmingham Health and Wellbeing Partnership as a Programme Manager in Design and Governance and as a Life Expectancy Programme Manager. In these roles, they commissioned interventions related to reducing early mortality and managed assistant programme managers in various areas such as obesity and infant mortality.

At Birmingham City Council, Darren held two positions. From 2006 to 2009, they served as the Health Scrutiny Manager, providing guidance to elected Members on NHS aspects in Birmingham. Darren also acted as the main liaison between the City Council and the 11 NHS Trusts in Birmingham. From 2003 to 2006, they worked as a Network Partnership Officer, developing a network of contacts for the Health Scrutiny Committee across the Local Authority, NHS, Voluntary and Community Sector, and Patients Groups.

During their tenure at Dynaset Consultants Ltd from 1998 to 2003, Darren worked as a Director, developing outcome measurement systems for substance misuse organizations.

Darren began their career in 1997 as a Connect Coordinator at Birmingham Disability Resource Centre.

Darren Wright earned a Bachelor of Laws degree with Honors (LLB) in Law from Birmingham City University, completing their education from 1990 to 1993. In addition to their formal education, they also obtained certifications as a Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) and a Professional Scrum Product Owner I (PSPO I) from Scrum.org in August 2018.
