April Suratos has a diverse work experience in the education sector. April started their career in 2010 as a Special Education Teacher at Grass, where they worked until 2012. In 2012, they briefly worked as a MOID K-2 Teacher at Fulton County Schools. From 2013 to 2020, they worked as a Middle School Teacher at Chesapeake Bay Academy. Currently, they are employed as the Head Teacher at The Gateway School since August 2020.
April Suratos pursued their education in a chronological manner, starting with a Bachelor's degree in History and Asian Studies from Old Dominion University, which they completed from 2004 to 2008. In 2009 to 2010, they enrolled in Old Dominion University once again to undertake the Teacher Preparation and Certification Program, studying Education. Later, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Special Education at Regent University from 2015 to 2017.
April Suratos has also obtained several additional certifications. In June 2015, they received the Collegiate Professional License in Special Education General Curriculum from the Virginia Department of Education. In August 2018, they acquired CPR & AED certification from the American Heart Association. In January 2020, they completed the Dyslexia Awareness Module and received a Certificate of Completion from the Virginia Department of Education. Lastly, in February 2020, they obtained training in recognizing, reporting, and responding to Child Abuse and Neglect for Educators from the Virginia Department of Social Services.
