Melanie Hargreaves has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Melanie began their career as a News Reporter at the New Milton Advertiser and Lymington Times in 2005. Melanie then worked as a Features Writer at Wessex Features and Photo Agency, followed by a role as a Deputy Features Editor at Wessex Features and Photos Limited. Melanie joined the Press Association as a Features Writer in 2008 and later served as Acting Chief Features Writer. From 2010 to 2011, they worked as a Media Officer for the Platform2/Christian Aid/DfID program. Hargreaves also worked as a Freelance Features Writer before joining Christian Aid in 2011. At Christian Aid, they held various roles including PR Officer, Press Officer, and Media and Communications Advisor. Notably, they led media and communications strategies for refugee and displacement campaigns, coordinated media work during natural disasters, and managed collaborative art projects. In 2020, they served as the Interim Head of Media and External Relations at Islamic Relief Worldwide, and later joined Hospice UK as the Press and Media Manager. Currently, they hold the position of Media and Public Relations Manager at The Freedom Fund, starting in 2022.
Melanie Hargreaves completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in European Culture and Society at the University of Essex from 2001 to 2005. After that, they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Newspaper Journalism (NCTJ) at Nottingham Trent University, which they completed in 2006. In 2003-2004, they participated in an Erasmus study exchange program at Université Jean Moulin (Lyon III), where they studied History, Philosophy, and Sociology.
