Shama Bhatkalkar has a diverse range of work experience in accounting roles. Shama began their career as an Account Executive at Urban Co-operative Bank in India in 2004. From there, they worked as an Account's Assistant at Frig Crafters Pvt. Ltd. in Bangalore from 2006 to 2008, where they maintained bookkeeping records and prepared financial statements. Shama then joined Sree Krishna Ore Carriers Pvt. Ltd. as an Accountant, supporting the Finance Manager with daily responsibilities and processing financial accounts. Shama worked there from 2008 to 2010. After that, Shama became an Accountant at Derby Castle Services, where they reported to the Managing Director and implemented accounting systems. Shama worked there from 2011 to 2013. Following this, they joined Hazel Middle East as a Senior Accountant, managing vendor payments, accounts receivable, and cash management. Shama worked at Hazel Middle East from 2013 to 2016. Most recently, they held the position of Senior Accountant at The First Group, where they handled various accounting tasks such as journal entries, closing procedures, financial analysis, risk management evaluation, and fixed assets management. Shama started working at The First Group in 2018.

Shama Bhatkalkar completed their Bachelor's degree in Commerce from MES College of Commerce between 2003 and 2006. Subsequently, they attended Don Bosco High School from 2004 to 2006. Shama pursued a Masters in Commerce with a specialization in Accounting and Financial Management from Karnataka University between 2007 and 2009.
