Stephen Shanks, CxA, BECxP, NDT Level III, serves as Vice President of Commissioning at Moisture Intrusion Solutions, a Salas O'Brien Company, since May 2023, bringing over 40 years of expertise in building science and construction performance focused on building enclosures and air barriers. As an ordained Deacon of the Episcopal Church since October 2004, Shanks has contributed to mission work among the poor and oppressed. Previously titled Board Chair for the National Institute of Building Sciences' Building Enclosure Technology and Environment Council from October 2020 to October 2023, responsibilities included promoting optimal energy use in buildings. Additional roles include Senior Consultant at Intertek, Principal at ECS Limited, Chief Operating Officer at Stevenson Consulting, Senior Principal at MBA Engineers, and Principal/Senior Corporate Consultant at BHATE Geosciences Corporation, all of which involved extensive consulting, testing, and operational leadership in engineering and building science. Shanks holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
