Gary Miles is an experienced journalist and editor with a career spanning over three decades. Currently serving as Editor and Publisher at The Detroit News since November 2000, Gary has driven significant growth in video content while emphasizing public service journalism and managing multiple departments alongside budget and legal responsibilities. Previous roles include Deputy Managing Editor and Acting Editor at The Times Herald, where Gary oversaw a large newsroom and notable investigative coverage. With earlier experience as Assistant News Director at WILX-TV and reporter roles at various publications including the Lansing State Journal and USA TODAY, Gary has developed a robust background in both sports and general news coverage. Gary holds a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from Michigan State University.
