Austin Heinen is an experienced sports reporter currently working at The Daily Nonpareil in Council Bluffs, Iowa, since September 2020. Prior to this role, Austin held positions as a sports reporter for BH Media Group and Atlantic News Telegraph, and served as the associate editor for The Prairie News. Austin's career in sports journalism began while working as a sports reporter for The Prairie News WTAMU and interning with the Amarillo Bulls Hockey Club, where responsibilities included gameday operations and guest relations. Additionally, Austin has experience as a crew chief and playback operator for WTTV Live Crew and previously served as chief sports reporter for Northwest Missourian. Educationally, Austin holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Broadcasting from West Texas A&M University and an Associate's degree in Sports Media Technology from Iowa Western Community College, among other credentials.
