Dr. Asheena Baez

Dr. Asheena Baez has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Dr. Asheena is currently working as an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University in the City of New York. Prior to this, they founded and served as the CEO of Asheena Baez Consulting, focusing on providing consulting services. Dr. Baez also worked as the Chief Implementation Officer at The Contentment Foundation, where they played a key role in implementing programs.

Dr. Asheena has also held roles in the education sector, including being a Summer Principal Academy Education Leadership Program Internship Coach at Teachers College, Columbia University. Additionally, they worked as a Principal at Baldwin Union Free School District and Beacon City School District. At the latter district, they also served as the Assistant Director of Pupil Personnel Services.

During their time as an International Educational Leadership Consultant at The American School of Bangkok, Dr. Baez provided professional development to principals and teachers, with a focus on building leadership and data-driven teaching practices. Dr. Asheena also facilitated student involvement and collaboration within their schools and communities.

Their experience in pupil personnel services includes being the Director of Pupil Personnel Services at Newburgh Enlarged City School District, where they worked on developing and implementing initiatives to support students' social and emotional needs. Earlier, they served as an Assistant Principal at West Prep Academy, leading departments such as English Language Arts, Science, and Special Education, and implementing social and emotional intelligence programs.

Dr. Asheena Baez holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from Clark Atlanta University, which they obtained from 2001 to 2003. Dr. Asheena then pursued a Master's Degree in Urban Education and Leadership at Mercy College from 2006 to 2008. Continuing their education, they obtained a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Columbia University between 2011 and 2013. Dr. Baez has further advanced their academic qualifications by completing a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership and Administration, General at Russell Sage College from 2019 to 2020.

In addition to their degrees, Dr. Baez has obtained certifications in School District Leadership and School Building Leadership from the New York State Education Department. Dr. Asheena received the School Building Leadership certification in September 2013 and the School District Leadership certification in April 2015.
