Mercy Wambua OGW has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Mercy is currently the Commission Secretary/CEO at The Commission on Administrative Justice Office of the Ombudsman, Government of Kenya, a position they have held since March 2022. Prior to this, Mercy served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Law Society of Kenya from February 2016 to March 2022. In the same organization, they also worked as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer/Secretary, Compliance and Ethics from May 2012 to January 2016.

Before their role at the Law Society of Kenya, Mercy was the Deputy Legal Aid Programme Coordinator at the National Legal Aid and Awareness Programme from April 2010 to April 2012. Mercy also served as the Legal Officer/Head of the Eldoret and Mombasa Legal Aid Centers at Christian Legal Education Aid and Research (CLEAR), Kenya from January 2007 to March 2010.

Mercy began their legal career as an Associate Advocate at Chebii and Company Advocates in September 2004, and later moved to Chemwok and Company Advocates, where they held the same position from September 2004 to May 2005.

Mercy Wambua OGW has a diverse education history spanning various institutions and fields of study. Mercy obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Moi University in 2002. Following that, they pursued a Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law in 2004. In 2009, Mercy obtained several certifications, including ADR (Mediation), ADR Mechanisms, Certificate in Trial Advocacy, and Public Procurement and Corruption Monitoring. These certifications were obtained from institutions such as the Ministry of Justice, the National Institute of Trial Advocacy in the USA, and Transparency International. Additionally, they completed a Conflict Mediation course from the Mediation Training Institute East Africa in 2011.

In terms of higher education, Mercy pursued a Master of Arts degree in Gender and Development Studies from the University of Nairobi, completing it in 2012. Mercy also obtained a Certified Public Secretary qualification from KASNEB in 2017.

Alongside their formal education, Mercy has acquired additional skills and knowledge through various courses. These include Facilitation Skills from the Ministry of Justice and a Senior Management Course from the Kenya Institute of Administrators, both completed in 2011.

Lastly, Mercy's education journey started with their completion of K.C.S.E at Mumbuni Secondary School in 1997.
