Michele McNeil

Michele McNeil has extensive experience in the field of education policy and journalism. Michele has worked for various organizations and held several leadership positions throughout their career.

Michele'smost recent role was as Vice President of Public Policy at The College Board, where they led a 12-member policy team and implemented a K-12 and higher education policy agenda at the state and federal levels. Michele also served as the Executive Director of K-12 Policy, where they shaped policy objectives and advocated for data privacy functions within the organization.

Prior to their work at The College Board, McNeil was the Senior Director of K-12 Policy Analysis & Design. In this role, they built a new public policy team and led the policy response during the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Michele also served as the Director of Assessment and Accountability Policy.

Before joining The College Board, McNeil worked for Education Week as an Assistant Editor and Federal Policy Reporter. Michele reported and authored stories on state and federal education policy and became a nationally recognized expert in accountability and assessment policy.

McNeil began their career as a Statehouse/Education Reporter for The Indianapolis Star, where they covered the governor, Indiana Legislature, state agencies, and education policy at various levels.

Throughout their career, McNeil has developed skills in policy analysis, design, government affairs, journalism, research, and communication. Michele'swork has had a significant impact on improving college access and advancing education policy.

Michele McNeil holds a Master of Public Policy degree in Education Policy from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Michele also attended Franklin College from 1993 to 1997, although their degree and field of study during that time are not specified.
