Douglas Fridsma serves as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer at Health Universe, Inc since July 2023, where responsibilities include advancing machine learning and AI algorithms in healthcare. Fridsma is also a Senior Advisor at Datavant, providing expertise on TEFCA and regulatory requirements, and previously held roles including Chief Medical Informatics Officer and Head of Government Partnerships at Datavant. As founder and CEO of Inicio Health, Fridsma consults for early-stage startups and health IT organizations. Additional roles include Founding Board Member at The Center for New Data and former President and CEO of the American Medical Informatics Association, where notable initiatives transformed the organization and its impact. Fridsma's career encompasses positions in HHS as Chief Science Officer, as well as academic roles at Arizona State University. Fridsma holds a PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford University and an MD from the University of Michigan Medical School. An internationally recognized expert in health informatics, achievements include contributions to policy, workforce development, and the establishment of new standards in health informatics.
