Ricca Gaus has several years of experience in various library and educational roles. Ricca started their career in 2008 as a Senior Librarian at The New York Public Library, where they worked until 2012. After that, they worked as a Metadata Consultant at Scholastic from December 2013 to August 2014. Ricca then joined Makr as a Technical Support Specialist from August 2013 to January 2015. In 2015, they briefly served as the Head of Youth Services at Escondido Public Library. From 2016 to 2018, they worked as a Middle/Upper School Librarian at Francis Parker School. Since 2018, they have been holding the position of Director of Library & New Media & Equity Coordinator at The Cathedral School of St. John the Divine.
Ricca Gaus pursued their education with dedication, starting their academic journey at the University of Vermont from 2000 to 2004. During this time, they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Comparative Religion, and minors in English and History. After a short break, they then continued their studies at the Pratt Institute from 2008 to 2010. Here, they successfully completed their Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) degree, specializing in Children and Youth Library Services, with distinction.
