Shannon Wentz, FACHE has a diverse and extensive work experience. Shannon is currently serving as the Area Vice President of Palliative and Aging Care at The Carpenter Health Network, a position they have held since June 2023. Prior to this, Shannon worked at Ochsner Health System from 2018 to 2023, where they held roles such as AVP, Palliative Medicine, and Director Quality Reporting. From 2012 to 2018, they worked at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where they held various roles including Quality Specialist, Administrator, and Adjunct Professor. Before that, they worked at UT Southwestern Medical Center from 2004 to 2011, holding positions such as Director Emergency Services and Director, Health Information Management and Staffing Services. Shannon also worked at Glenwood Regional Medical Center from 1999 to 2004, serving as the Director of Health Information Management and Director Quality Management/Medical Staff Services. Shannon began their career at St. Francis Specialty Hospital in 1994 as the Director of Health Information Management/Medical Staff Services/Utilization Review. Prior to that, they worked as a Case Manager at St. Francis Medical Center in 1993 and as a Coding Specialist at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in 1992. Overall, Shannon has demonstrated a strong track record of leadership and expertise in various healthcare settings.
Shannon Wentz, FACHE, holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Business Administration, which was obtained from the University of Louisiana Monroe from 1996 to 1998. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate education at Louisiana Tech University from 1989 to 1993, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Health Information Management.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Shannon has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 1993, they became a Registered Health Information Administrator through AHIMA. In 2005, they acquired the certification of Certified Healthcare Privacy from AHIMA. Furthermore, in 2008, they achieved the esteemed designation of Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) from the American College of Healthcare Executives. Most recently, in 2022, Shannon obtained a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education.
