Joshua Mitman has extensive experience in legal advocacy and policy reform, particularly in the areas of criminal justice and sentencing. Currently serving as Senior Policy Counsel at The Bail Project since March 2022, Mitman previously held the position of Director of Federal Legislative Affairs at FAMM, where advocacy efforts focused on congressional reforms for families with incarcerated members. Earlier roles include Equal Justice Works Fellow at the Campaign for the Fair Sentencing of Youth, where Mitman promoted parole policy reform for juvenile sentences. Additional legal experience spans positions at Georgetown Law's Criminal Defense and Prisoner Advocacy Clinic, Southern Poverty Law Center, and the ACLU National Prison Project, among others. Mitman holds a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and a Bachelor’s Degree in Government & Politics and Philosophy from the University of Maryland.
