Tim Pursell has over 30 years of work experience in various roles within the IT industry. Tim most recently served as the Director of IT at the American Kennel Club since October 2015. Prior to that, they worked at the State of North Carolina from 2006 to 2015, where they held positions such as Director, Architecture and Engineering, and IT Director - Client Services. Tim also worked at NiSource as a Regional Manager, Client Services from 2001 to 2006, and at Columbia Energy Group Inc as an IT Director from 2000 to 2001. Additionally, Tim has experience as an IT Manager at Columbia Gas of Ohio from 1998 to 1999, and as an SCADA Engineer and IC Analyst at Columbia Energy Group Inc from 1996 to 1999. Tim began their career as an IT Specialist at Columbia Gas Transmission from 1990 to 1996. Tim has also gained teaching experience as an Adjunct Instructor at Lord Fairfax Community College in 1992. Prior to their career in IT, they worked as a Service Technician at ComputerLand and as a Radio DJ at iHeartRadio in 1987.
Tim Pursell earned a B.S. in Mathematics and a B.S. in Computer Information Systems from Shenandoah University between 1984 and 1988. In 2004 and 2005, they pursued an MBA in Technical Management from the University of Phoenix. Additionally, they have obtained certifications such as CompTIA Security+ (SY0-601) Cert Prep: The Basics from LinkedIn in May 2022 and Certified Public Manager from the National CPM Consortium in July 2015.
