Dr. Joy Buolamwini is the Artist-in-Chief and President of The Algorithmic Justice League, a position held since January 2023, having previously served as Founder and Executive Director from October 2016 to September 2022. Buolamwini has an extensive research background as a Graduate Researcher at the MIT Media Lab from September 2015 to January 2022, focused on civic media. Educational qualifications include a PhD and a Master's degree in Algorithmic Bias from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, alongside a Master's degree in Education from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology. Other notable roles include founding Code4Rights and Zamrize, serving as a Technical Consultant at The Carter Center, and co-founding Techturized, Inc.
