Annabel Astbury is an experienced education leader currently serving as the Head of Education in the Strategy Division at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation since April 2012. In addition to this role, Annabel has been the Head of Education at RMIT University since August 2022 and previously held the position of Senior Industry Fellow at the Australian Media Literacy Alliance from January 2021 to October 2023. As Chair of the Australian Media Literacy Alliance and Executive Director of the History Teachers' Association of Victoria from November 2005 to March 2012, Annabel demonstrated strong leadership in education and media literacy. Earlier career experience includes serving as a classroom teacher at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School from 1997 to 2005. Annabel's educational background includes a Company Directors Course from the Australian Institute of Company Directors in November 2023, a Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Literature from Monash University.
