April Tome began their work experience in 1980 at The Eggers Group, PC, where they served as an Architectural Apprentice until 1982. April then moved on to Anestis Demou Architects, working as an Architectural Associate from 1982 to 1985. In 1985, April started their own company, M.A. Tome Architect, LLC, where they currently hold the position of Principal. In 2016, they also took on a role as a Content Writer at Textbroker International.

April Tome has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Fine Art & Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. April also holds a Master of Architecture (MArch) degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Pratt Institute. The exact start and end years for both degrees are not provided.
