Blake Turvey

Orthopedic Surgeon at Texas Orthopedics

Blake Turvey, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of traumatic orthopedic injuries of the upper and lower extremities. He is highly trained in both the surgical and nonsurgical management of long bone fractures, periarticular fractures, fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum, periprosthetic fractures, nonunions, malunions, and infections.

Dr. Turvey received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University with a major in comprehensive science and a minor in Spanish. He received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, and completed his orthopedic residency at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA. During residency, Dr. Turvey received several awards and honors including being a nominee for the Frank Hammond Sivitz Award, recipient of the Wylie Vein Award, a member of the C. McCollister Evarts Resident Leadership Forum, and an AAOS Resident Delegate. After residency, he completed an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center – a large Level 1 trauma center with a heavy case load. In addition to orthopedic trauma management, his fellowship incorporated primary and revision arthroplasty in the practice, as well as many opportunities to gain knowledge of other subspecialties.

Dr. Turvey is a member of the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, AOA Emerging Leaders Program, the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and the AO Foundation. In addition, he has published multiple peer reviewed publications, presentations, and abstracts.

Dr. Turvey lives in Austin with his wife, young daughter, and dog. He enjoys hiking, biking, camping, skiing and snowboarding, traveling, and spending time with his family.
