Geir Solberg worked for Aker Solutions from 1983 to 2003, starting as a Sveise leder and eventually becoming an Arbeidsleder and Avdelings leder. In 2003, they joined TESS Produksjon-TESS Subsea- TESS Logistics as a Daglig Leder, where they were responsible for budget control, project management, coordinating work leaders, and ensuring that the workshop operated according to welding standards. Geir also held an Orbital sveisesertifikat, which allowed him to provide training on this welding method in TESS Subsea.

Geir Solberg studied at Teknologisk institutt Stavanger from 2004 to 2005, where they pursued a degree in Sveiserteknikk-Orbital sveising and obtained the title of Sveise ingeniør. Additionally, they attended Kiwa Teknologisk Institutt to obtain NDT Level2 Sertifisering in VT-PT-PMI, although the start and end years for this program were not provided.
