Richard I. Smith has a diverse work experience that spans across different industries. Richard started their career in 2015 as a Laborer at Perlo Construction. In 2016, they worked as a Sales Associate at ACE Hardware. From 2019 to 2020, Richard worked as a Student Engineer at ATI Specialty Alloys and Components, where they were responsible for designing power and control systems for factory equipment. In 2020, they interned as a Test Engineering Intern at Eaton, where they provided engineering support and developed software tools for functional testing. In 2021, Richard became a Field Service Engineer at Eaton, performing maintenance and repair work on distribution systems. Currently, they are working at Tesco Controls, Inc. as a Project Engineer, where they design custom control panels and instrumentation for the Water/Wastewater Industry. Richard's responsibilities at Tesco Controls include reading and interpreting specifications, producing equipment shop drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, and performing design calculations for components.

Richard I. Smith pursued their education from 2016 to 2021 at Oregon State University, where they completed their Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. In December 2021, they obtained certification as an Engineering Intern (E.I.) from the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering & Land Surveying.
