Brian Shao has four years of professional experience. In 2020, they began working as a Scientist for Terray Therapeutics. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Student at UCLA from 2015 to 2020. From 2014 to 2015, they were an Undergraduate Researcher at UC Davis. Additionally, they were a Glycochemistry Research at Academia Sinica, Taiwan in 2014.

Brian Shao attended Alhambra High School from 2007 to 2011. Brian then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California, Davis from 2011 to 2015. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2019.
