Dr. C. Suresh Kumar has a wealth of experience in Concentrated Solar Thermal Energy Research, Development and Operations, and Thermal Desalination. He has played a major role in setting up a solar steam generating system with 7000 square meters of collector area at the Solar Energy Center near New Delhi. He has also been a key leader in establishing India’s first solar thermal seawater desalination system in the district of Ramanathapuram, Tamil Nadu which will provide potable water to the village of Narippaiyur.

Currently, he is the Executive Vice-President and R&D Director of Empereal-KGDS Renewable Energy Pvt. Ltd and is responsible for research and development activities, research alliances, technology development, process and product development, project planning through commissioning, and technology strategy.

Prior to joining Empereal-KGDS, Dr. Suresh worked at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) as a Research Associate. Dr. Suresh was awarded a Doctoral degree in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras for his thesis entitled “Design and Fabrication of Kelvin Probe and Surface Passivation Studies of GaAs” which bagged the best Ph.D. thesis award in Physics (Prof. A. L. Laskar Prize). He is a co-author of a book titled ‘The Kelvin Probe for Surface Engineering’ published by CRC Press, 2009. He has published around 9 research papers.
