Timothy Arlen has a diverse background in machine learning and research. Timothy is currently working as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at TerraClear Inc since February 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Machine Learning and AI Lead at Just Auto Insurance, Inc. from June 2020 to December 2022. Timothy also worked at Genius Sports as a Machine Learning Team Lead from June 2017 to June 2020, where they were responsible for applying machine learning algorithms to various aspects of the business. Timothy previously held the position of Machine Learning Software Engineer at Second Spectrum, Inc. from November 2015 to June 2017, where they worked on building models and performing analyses using spatiotemporal tracking data from professional sports leagues. Before transitioning into industry roles, Timothy was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Penn St. University Physics from September 2013 to October 2015, where they coordinated the software for the PINGU project, focusing on determining the neutrino mass hierarchy. Timothy also served as a Graduate Student Researcher at UCLA Physics and Astronomy from September 2007 to July 2013, where they developed a 3D particle-tracking Monte Carlo simulation code for studying the effects of the Intergalactic Magnetic Field on gamma-ray data.
Timothy Arlen completed their education with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and a minor in Mathematics from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, spanning from 2003 to 2006. Timothy then pursued a Doctorate in Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Physics and Astronomy at UCLA, where they studied from 2006 to 2013. In terms of additional certifications, Timothy obtained the title of "Kaggle Competitions Expert" from Kaggle in August 2022. Furthermore, they acquired certifications in "Bayesian Statistics: From Concept to Data Analysis," "Financial Markets," and "Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) Specialization" from Coursera in January 2023.
