Mary Pert has worked in a variety of roles since 2004. Mary began their career as a Communications Assistant at NHS Islington, where they were promoted to Acting Corporate Affairs Manager in January 2005. In 2006, they volunteered at Virlanie Foundation, Inc. and Care & Share Family Centre. Mary then took a career break in 2011 and 2012. In 2012, they were a Maternity Cover for Investment Committee Co-ordinator/EA at Actis. Mary then joined Premier Oil plc in 2006 as an External Relations Co-ordinator, and was promoted to External Relations Officer in July 2010. Mary also held the roles of Commercial Analyst and Temporary Team Secretary at Premier Oil. In 2013, they were a Commercial Adviser and Head of the CEO's Office, where they provided general executive assistance, administered Executive Committee meetings and decision-making, and managed the CEO's personal brand with staff. In 2017, they were a Project Manager. Currently, Mary Pert is a Business Operations Manager at tepeo, where they are tackling the UK's biggest challenge to achieving its Net Zero target.

Mary Pert's education history includes a BA in Physics from the University of Oxford between 1998 and 2001, and A-Levels in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and AS Level German from South Hampstead High School, GDST, between 1991 and 1998. Mary also holds four additional certifications: Certificate in Business Accounting from CIMA in April 2016, Level 2 Award in Book-Keeping and Accounts, First Class Pass from City & Guilds in June 2013, Level 2 Computerised Accounts, First Class Pass from City & Guilds in May 2013, and CIR (Certificate in Investor Relations) from The Investor Relations Society in December 2008.
