Human Resources And Institutional Relations Senior Director at Tenaris

Roberto Varela has extensive work experience in human resources, with a focus on leadership roles. Roberto is currently working as the Human Resources and Institutional Relations Senior Director at Tenaris since September 2022. Prior to this role, they served as the Human Resources Senior Director - Andean, Central America & Caribe at Tenaris from April 2018 to September 2022.

Before joining Tenaris, Roberto worked at Gentera, where they held the position of Director of Human Resources from November 2015 to March 2018. Roberto also served as the Human Resources Manager at Gentera's subsidiary in Peru from January 2015 to November 2015.

Prior to their time at Gentera, Roberto worked at Kimberly-Clark, holding multiple roles including Human Resources Country Manager - Peru, Global Human Resources Manager, and Human Resources Manager for Operations and Supply Chain in Colombia. Roberto worked at Kimberly-Clark from October 2008 to January 2015.

Earlier in their career, Roberto worked at Philip Morris International as the HR and Industrial Relations Manager from June 2007 to October 2008, and at EDS as a Human Resources Specialist Senior from February 2006 to June 2007.

Roberto's early career experience includes roles as a Human Resources Analyst at Avianca from 2003 to 2006, and as an intern at Avianca in 2002.

In addition to their current role at Tenaris, Roberto is also a Member of the Board of Directors at GLOBAL PIPE COMPANY since May 2023.

Roberto Varela graduated from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana with a degree in Industrial Engineering in 2003. In 2007, they obtained a Master's degree in Human Resources from Escuela Organizacion Industrial. Additionally, in 2014, they completed a program in Strategic Management at INALDE Business School. Roberto attended IMD in 2018 to study Strategic Leadership. Roberto also received certification as a member of the Board of Directors at DCH Colombia from DCH - International Organization of Human Capital Executives. In 2017, they pursued further education in Microfinance at the University of Colorado Boulder.
