Erik Mueller serves as the VP of Knowledge Technologies at Tempus AI, where responsibilities include the development and deployment of deep learning-based models for natural language processing, conversational AI, clinical prediction, and precision medicine, successfully deploying nine models into production since January 2022. Prior to this role, Mueller worked at Capital One as Senior Director of Machine Learning Engineering, leading the development of NLP models and recommendation systems, including contributions to Eno, a banking assistant. Earlier experience includes positions at IBM, where Mueller was a Research Staff Member on the original Watson team, involved in the creation of Watson for Jeopardy! and Watson for Healthcare. Erik Mueller holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, as well as a Master's and Doctorate in Computer Science from UCLA.
