Michael Kohan is an experienced music educator and director, currently serving as the Music Director at The Open Temple since November 2022, where leadership of a band and fostering connections between music and prayer are primary responsibilities. Since August 2016, Michael has also worked as a Music Educator at Temple Israel of Hollywood, teaching grades K-6 and supporting student musical growth while leading services and training students in songwriting and performance. Prior experience includes teaching music at Laguna Blanca School and Southwestern Academy, as well as running a private music instruction business. Michael holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology from UCLA.
