Brenda Loya

CEO and Co-Founder at Tellor

Brenda Loya has extensive experience in the field of data collection, analysis, and publication. Brenda began their career in 2007 as an Economist with the Bureau of Labor Statistics in the Current Employment Statistics National Benchmark Branch. In this role, they were responsible for leading, motivating, and mentoring junior staff, as well as planning and completing complex research projects. Brenda also developed and maintained a relational database and graphical user interface to track research progress. In 2015, they moved to the U.S. Department of Labor as a Supervisory Statistician-Employment and Training Administration. In this role, they managed the data collection, creation, publication, and analysis for the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Weekly Claims Release. In 2017, they moved to the U.S. Energy Information Administration as an International Economic Analyst. In this role, they had the opportunity to develop tools to significantly improve data review in R and Power BI, as well as train junior staff on R and brief the EIA Administrator on research findings and recommendations. In 2018, they joined Daxia as the VP/Lead Developer (Blockchain, scalability, data science). In this role, they were responsible for R&D (Blockchain, Ethereum, scalability, data science, etc.). Finally, in 2019, they became the CEO and Co-Founder of Tellor, which has developed a Decentralized Oracle that uses Poof-of-Work and staking to provide a secure and trustless option to input high-value data into smart contracts on the Ethereum network.

Brenda Loya completed their Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Economics from The University of Texas at El Paso in 2004. Brenda then went on to pursue their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Applied Economics from The Johns Hopkins University in 2011. Additionally, they obtained an IIF Certificate in Forecasting Practice from The Johns Hopkins University.
