Shine Thao has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies. Currently, they are working as a Project Coordinator at TELICS since May 2021. Prior to that, they worked as an Office Associate at State Farm from June 2020 to July 2021. Before joining State Farm, Shine Thao served as the Secretary for the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) from February 2019 to May 2021. Their earliest work experience was as a Crew Member at Bojangles' Restaurants, Inc. from July 2015 to May 2021, where they provided quality customer service, prepared food orders, and ensured the cleanliness of the facility.

Shine Thao obtained a High School Diploma from Crossroads Arts Sciences Early College in 2017. In the following year, from 2013 to 2017, Thao attended Mitchell Community College and earned an Associate of Arts degree. Thao then pursued higher education at Western Carolina University, where they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Communication, General from 2018 to 2021.
