Jacob Overgaard has a diverse work experience in the field of materials technology and crystallography. Jacob is currently working as the Director of Industrial Materials Technology at the Danish Technological Institute since January 2024. Prior to this role, they served as the Acting Director in the same department from January 2023 to January 2024. Before joining the Danish Technological Institute, Jacob worked as an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemistry in Aarhus University. Jacob led an independent research group, focusing on the use of X-ray and neutron diffraction methods to study molecular magnets. Jacob also taught courses in chemical crystallography and inorganic chemistry. Prior to their position at Aarhus University, they worked as a Senior Researcher and Crystallographer from 2010 to 2020 and from 2005 to 2010 respectively. Jacob also gained international experience during their postdoctoral positions at the University of Sydney and the University of Aarhus. At the University of Sydney, they conducted research in low temperature X-ray and neutron crystallography and mentored students at various levels. Overall, Jacob Overgaard has a strong background in research and teaching in the field of materials science and crystallography.
Jacob Overgaard's education history includes attending Parkskolen from 1980 to 1990 for their primary education. Jacob then went on to Struer Gymnasium from 1990 to 1993, where they focused on studying Chemistry and Physics. Following this, they attended Aarhus University from 1997 to 2001 and obtained their PhD in Chemistry and Physics. Finally, they continued their education at Aarhus University and received a Doctor of Science degree in Chemistry in 2015.
