John Goetz has a diverse work experience in both software development and research. From 2015 onwards, they worked as a Senior Software Development Engineer at Tecplot, Inc., where they were responsible for authoring and leading the development of PyTecplot and TecUtil Server. Prior to that, from 2012 to 2015, they worked at Ohio University as a Post-Doc in High-Energy Physics Research, where they split their time between software development and research. Before that, from 2010 to 2012, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher at UCLA, focusing on the symmetries of the strong force in their dissertation work.
John Goetz received their education from UCLA, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Elementary Particle Physics from 2005 to 2010. In addition to their academic achievements, they also obtained several certifications, including Private Pilot - Tailwheel Certification in November 2012, Private Pilot - Complex Endorsement in May 2008, and Private Pilot - Single Engine Land from the FAA in December 2007.
