Sam Slota-Newson has a diverse work experience spanning various sectors. Sam currently serves as the Group Operations Director at Technopolis Group, where they provide evidence-based policy advice and insights on environmental and societal issues. Prior to this, they worked as a Member of the Board of Trustees at Concordis International, a peacebuilding charity. Sam has also held the position of Programme Director and Head of Operations at Integrity, overseeing operational support and risk management. Sam has extensive experience in the humanitarian sector, having served as a Global Risk Advisor and Programme Leader at War Child UK and as an NGO Consultant, supporting program delivery in complex environments. Sam has also worked as a Consultant at the European Interagency Security Forum, advising on humanitarian operations and risk management. Earlier in their career, they were a Guest Lecturer and Teaching Assistant at the University of British Columbia and a Researcher at the Royal College of Defence Studies, focusing on post-conflict stabilisation, strategy formation, and integration of military and foreign policy. Sam's career started in the British Army, where they served as an Officer for eight years.
Sam Slota-Newson completed a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Southampton from 2000 to 2003. Later, from 2012 to 2013, they pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) in International Relations at The University of British Columbia.
