Sylvia Schattauer is currently serving as Präsidentin at Technische Universität Clausthal since November 2023, focusing on interdisciplinary research, teaching, and transfer work related to sustainable resource supply and energy transition amidst climate change challenges. Prior to this role, Schattauer was the Director of Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems IWES from January 2022 to November 2023, where efforts were concentrated on the testing and validation of components in wind energy generation, backed by significant investment in testing infrastructure. Schattauer also held the position of Institutsleiterin at Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems IMWS and served as Deputy Director focusing on hydrogen technology and carbon process engineering from October 2019 to January 2022. Earlier experiences include roles in research coordination and management at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and research at Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Polymer Research IAP. Schattauer earned a Dr.-Ing. in Physics from the University of Potsdam and a Diplom-Ingenieurin in Electrical Engineering with a focus on renewable energies.
