Valentin Popa currently holds the position of Editor in Chief of Cellulose Chemistry and Technology at the Romanian Academy Publishing House since January 2008, overseeing the publication process by reviewing submissions and coordinating with peer reviewers. A long-standing member of the Technical University of Iasi since 1969, Valentin Popa serves as a Professor specializing in wood chemistry and biotechnology, with a focus on pulp and paper technology, as well as various research areas including the biosynthesis and biodegradation of biomass compounds. Additionally, Valentin Popa has held the role of Dean at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering from January 2000 to January 2005, and possesses a PhD in Polysaccharides chemistry from the Polytechnic Institute of Iasi, further demonstrating extensive expertise in the field.
