Dr. Sue Burgess served as a superintendent of schools for 24 years, including stints at King William County (VA), Spotsylvania County (VA), and Dare County (NC). Before becoming a superintendent, she gained experience as a teacher and administrator in Davidson County Schools (NC) and as a principal and director in Hanover County Schools (VA). Sue has been a presenter at state and national conferences, including the American Association of School Administrators and the National School Boards Association. She is a past chairman of the standards committee of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and a former state president of Virginia Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary sorority for women educators.
Dr. Burgess served as an adjunct faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she taught a course on School Improvement Planning and served as a trained assessor of aspiring principals.
